Stuff that sucks: DC United’s stadium design.

DC Uniteds stadium rendering v1.0

In a time when the City and the team are just fighting for the location and timeframe I think something more important has been missed. We’ve seen images in the past of what a new stadium might look like but those renderings are old and the selection of an architect is not even solidified yet.

On the other hand. Other cities and clubs are more focused on the asthetics and uniquiness of their new home field.

One Impressive stadium is Valencia FC’s ambitious new stadium.

See more at the architects homepage.

Portsmouth Football club and Sellar Properties have today unveiled ambitious plans for a 600m development in Portsmouth. It also only holds 36,000 which I think would be a great size for DC United and would allow us to host International matches and house Beckham’s posse.

One response so far, want to say something?

DC United needs to just stay at RFK. Take a quarter of the money, revamp the current works and then you have something that is completely doable. Plus, with the amount of seating there, it can be easily rented, increasing the ROI. Would a new stadium be nice? of course, but where… where with the amount of parking and access to Metro? Also, when LA Galaxy played at RFK last year, EVERY seat was filled, which means that there is the ability to sell more seat than the program is currently doing. Save the money, buy a better Keeper (god, enough of this guy already) and get this team back on track.
